Today, I took time to visit the National Road Museum in Ohio. I went with my dad. It was a great visit. Only cost us $6 each to enter and the guy working the desk spent the first 10 minutes giving us an overview of the National Road. I think he was a volunteer but he was extremely personable and everyone who came in found him a bonus to the tour.
The museum isn’t huge but it is worth seeing. If you don’t know, the National Road was started under President Washington and was constructed from Baltimore to central Illinois. It was intended to go further but considering it was - like most roads in those days - basically a muddy trail, it was quite the accomplishment. The Road runs on U.S. 40. That highway runs close to or with Interstate 70. Here are pics from today. I suggest you visit if you get the chance as it rated a 5 of 5 on the scale.
