The Strip: Pittsburgh Style
Pittsburgh's Strip is a vibrant stretch of old shops fronting street vendors on Saturday's. What it reminded me of - almost immediately - was the scenes from the Godfather movies where the immigrant community mingled, bought their goods on the street. It had that vibe and was contagious in its communal binding.
It was hard for me to snap a good picture. Between the crowds and awnings, gaining an advantageous point for the lens was really next to impossible. But hopefully, you get a taste of what was going on through the couple shots I have.
You can buy all sorts of goods on The Strip. It is part farmer's market. Three tubs of blueberries were going for $2. Steelers' gear and other Tshirts, apparel can be had at cheap prices.
The Strip is in the heart of the city, where steel mills once thrived and those migrants I mentioned earlier once wandered by shops on their way home. It is a must experience if you visit.
