Warsaw Ghetto 74 Years On
It has been 74 years since the Warsaw Ghetto fought back against Nazis who were trying to liquidate the inhabitants. The fight surprised the Nazis but their overwhelming military advantages won out.
The uprising has been on my mind for the past week. In large part because someone I have studied - and gotten to know through that research - died as the fighting broke out. I won't mention her name (still doing the project) but her memory has lingered heavy with me during the last week.
What could've been, what should've been, but what was. Evil intent, tentacles rooted in bigotry and hatred, destroys the pureness of destiny when allowed to run rampant. The blood soaked into the ground of where the Warsaw ghetto once stood, cries out as a testament to that fact. Maybe I am a little too retrospective this week. On the other hand, is that possible at moments like this?
